生活英语|First Writing Ceremony 开笔礼

The First Writing Ceremony, also called Qi Meng （Enlightenment） Ceremony, was a very important ceremony for every student before they were admitted to school.

开笔礼，也叫启蒙礼，是学生入学念书之前举行的一个尤为重要的仪式，（俗称生活第一大礼）。

这里的First Writing Ceremony就是开笔礼的意思。启蒙教育开笔礼一般在Confucius temple（孔庙）举行，孩子们要穿上traditional cosplaytumes（传统服饰），老师们give a red dot on pupils forehead（在学生们的额头上点红痣），名为opening the wisdom eye （开天眼）。学生们toll a bronze bell（撞铜钟）表示新学期的开始。

参加开笔礼仪式的父母和老师表示，开笔礼不只给孩子们上了别开生面的第一课，也让孩子们领略到中华传统文化，发扬working hard（刻苦学习）、respecting teachers and parents（尊师孝亲）等中华民族的traditional virtues^{2（传统美德）。}
